Systematic treatment for fear of flying

Using the results of research into fear of flying and our own extensive clinical experience, we have developed the Fly with out Fear program following three basic principles.

Fear of flying has many different causes, so you need a tailored treatment program to deal with your particular concerns

People who complete the program are usually able to take the practice flights on the last day. However, our research and experience shows that it takes continuing effort to control fear of flying, and it is important that you continue to practice the new coping skills to help you maintain the change over time. That is why in the Fly with out Fear program we offer you ongoing support and assistance during the group, the practice flights and a follow up group three months later, with the opportunity to take another accompanied flight if needed.

The Fly with out Fear program is a collaboration between Dr Bryan Burke, senior counselling psychologist specialising in fear of flying, and the Macquarie University Anxiety Research Unit (MUARU) . The program is currently offered in Sydney.
